Last week I finally opened a door that I thought I closed a long time ago!! Five years ago was the first time I attempted to stream on Twitch, but nothing ever happened and the stream never went live for a variety of reasons. At the time I barely knew the first thing about video recording and I was just winging it and I ended up feeling overwhelmed and embarrassed in the end. I gave up on the idea of streaming blaming it on my set up and ignoring the fact that I was just trying to protect myself from feeling the way I did when I didn't know anything about streaming, recording, or editing.
I'm not trying to make excuses instead I'm more trying to call myself out for not trying to learn and growing my knowledge of something that could actually help me expand to help my site. At one point, growing Wrestling Express was my one and only focus, but I didn't know how and instead of trying to learn how to do it I gave up. Looking through the same rose colored glasses you'll think I did the same thing with YouTube, but I would disagree on that front. I never intended or expected to become something on YouTube and was just recording for fun. I will admit that I could've worked to improve my skills and took the time to make goals for myself, but I didn't and chose to just be happy with what I was doing.
To say the first stream went badly would be a bit of an understatement, but that's sort of expected and what I wanted to have happen. This way I knew exactly or had an idea what I need to work and fix between now and the next time I streamed. Honestly, after five years of making YouTube videos it is a welcome change not having to edit the video, change audio, or render the video before uploading it. It is extremely relaxing sitting down and playing the game only having to worry about the audio and the connection is a lot more relaxing. I've learned that everything happens for a reason and when I started having conversations with people about streaming I knew it was time to give a try and that's exactly why I finally stepped up and gave it a try! However, I again am looking at ways to be unique and different instead of just being another faceless streamer figuring an identity though takes time and I'm ready to give it that time.
